Satoshi, of course, is the head character. He and his Pokémon friend, Pikachuu, traveled through various league competitions in Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto!

Pikachuu was Satoshi's starting Pokémon, which he received in Pallet Town from Ookido-Hakase. Satoshi's rival, as well as mentor, is Shigeru, the grandson of Ookido-Hakase. Satoshi gets angered easily, as he is always one step behind his rival.

While everyone else has to catch Pokémon, quite a few times Satoshi has obtained his from various situations.

Satoshi also knows of the Team Rocket organization too well. Kojiro and Musashi, along with their mascot, Nyaasu, strive to capture his rare Pikachuu for the boss. Satoshi has battled the two teenagers throughout his journeys, yet he easily defeats their lower-leveled Pokémon.

While traveling through Kanto and Johto, Satoshi is accompanied by Takeshi and Kasumi. Through the Orange Islands, Kenji, a native, traveled with him. After Satoshi competes in the Johto League, Kasumi, Takeshi, and he part ways.

When Satoshi travels to the Houen Region, he meets an aspiring beginner Pokémon trainer named Haruka. She agrees to travel through the Houen Region with him. Later, Takeshi rejoins Satoshi, as they find new adventures in the land of Houen!
